Lionel Messi has officially signed a new contract with Inter Miami, finalizing a deal that took several months to negotiate. This agreement ensures that the football legend will remain with the Major League Soccer club as it prepares to transition to its new stadium, set to open next year. The announcement was made on Thursday, just a day prior to Inter Miami’s playoff match against Nashville, with the team positioned as the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference. The club shared the exciting news via social media, featuring a photo of Messi signing the contract inside the still-under-construction stadium, accompanied by the caption, “HE’S HOME.”

In a statement released by the club, Messi expressed his joy about extending his stay in Miami, stating, “It makes me really happy to stay here and to continue with this project that, besides being a dream, has become a beautiful reality — playing in this stadium, at Miami Freedom Park.” Since his arrival in Miami, Messi has felt content and is thrilled to continue his journey with the team. Inter Miami confirmed that the contract is a three-year deal extending through 2028, which is expected to significantly enhance ticket sales at the new venue located near Miami International Airport.
The team has been proactively selling ticket packages and accepting deposits for seating in the new stadium for over a year, operating under the assumption that Messi would continue to be integral to the franchise. His presence for an additional two to three seasons is anticipated to be a major draw for fans and boost the club’s profile as it embarks on this new chapter.
