Hello everyone
Welcome back to our daily blog.
The past few days Beijing has experienced some heavy snow and the temperatures dropped drastically.

Today, Saturday the 16th, Beijing Meteorological Observatory announced that temperatures were going to a minimum of minus 16 degrees celcius and maximum of 6.
They also put out an orange warning for icy slippery road.

Today when I took to the streets I noted workers scrapping off ice from pavements and roads. They were also applying road salt to aid quick melting of snow as salt lowers the freezing point of water, which prevents ice from forming. Road salt is just rock salt, which is table salt in its natural form. Deferent chemicals can be applied to quickly melt down snow and these are Sodium chloride (salt), magnesium chloride, calcium chloride, calcium magnesium acetate and potassium acetate.

For those who love the beauty of nature and environment, despite the chilly weather, the sky was beautiful and the snow gave a white canvas for beautiful photos.
I, however, almost slipped and fell in the glazy surface. A lot of videos have been shared on Chinese social media showing people falling down on pavements.

It’s also unfortunate that during this snow spell in Beijing there was a train accident linked to bad weather. No casualties but more than 500 people were hospitalized with some already discharged.
Take a look at some of the photos taken today.
See you again,
