Zimbabwe returned to international football with a victory on day three in the 2023 HOLLYWOODBETS COSAFA Women’s Championship at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday and today’s win over Namibia.
The Mighty Warriors won 1-0 over Lesotho in the Group C opener. Privilege Mupeti came off the bench to score her side’s only goal just before the hour-mark in a match that Zimbabwe dominated. The Mighty Warriors were on first position on the log with three points.

Today they registered a 2-nil win over Namibia making them sit on 6 points.
Zimbabwe is in Group C with Botswana, Namibia and Lesotho.
Zimbabwe was under an 18-month suspension from FIFA citing unwanted interference in football and the ban was lifted a couple of months ago. Zimbabwe’s national women’s football team, popularly known as the Mighty Warriors, is ready to make a triumphant return to the international football scene. This marks an important event, not only for the team, but also for Zimbabwe, signifying their return to international football.
The Mighty Warriors are headed by Coach Shadreck Mlauzi are looking forward to scooping another COSAFA Women’s Championship after that of 2011.
